This poor bird decided to nest at Lagoon A Beach. He had a quiet spot for weeks, I'm sure, but on Saturday the beach opened. And the bird got terrorized by thousands of people. Not a smart bird.
The best part was a trashy kid trying to feed it a chicken strip. I'm no zoologist, but I’m pretty sure poultry does not eat its own kind. (Battered and deep fried notwithstanding.)
I actually heard him yell at the expectant foul, "EAT IT!" As though he might get through with force. I suspected somewhere at the beach was his own mother wonder what had happened to her 3rd strip. "JIMMY! What did you do with momma’s dinner!"
Miss Annie, I snorted my Tab through my nose reading your "I'm pretty sure poultry does not eat its own kind" comment. I remember you being horrified at the kid trying to feed it chicken, but I thought you were just upset that the bird was eating junk food. I forget that chicken nuggets are actually made from dead birds.
Poor, dumb bird. I wonder when the eggs will hatch.

Is that in your front yard or something?
Who's your friend?
You know, if you shake the eggs they won't hatch.
