Dine O Round

Today's post will be interactive.

So, who remembers high school? Anyone? I do. Among my many high school memories are those of dances. Homecoming, Christmas, Prom, Girls Choice, etc. Do you want me to tell you about what I wore to those dances? No? Alright, how about where we went to dinner. Sit back and let me wow you with my culinary adventures during high school.

1. Sizzler (my first dance, Christmas, girl's choice - she chose Sizzler, of course.)
2. Market Street Broiler
3. Log Haven
4. Shenanigans
5. The Rude Cafe
6. A girl's Sunday school teacher's house for an authentic Italian meal (Stella)
7. The Mandarin
8. Della Fontana

I'm drawing a blank on other spots. Here's the interactive part, where did you all go for dinner before your high school dances?

I can't believe you forgot Mulboone's. Didn't every young gentleman in Davis County want to impress his date with the never-ending shrimp bowl? Also props to you for my favorite corsage ever. My mom still talks about that gardenia.

Funny you're talking about high school. I had a dream last night about David Dyer. Sigh . . .

You know, I think I thought Mulboone's was too trendy. I think in the summer of 1992, B-Lo took me there for dinner. The one located at Trolley Square.

At my high school in California, the place to go before a casual or semi-casual dance (like Sadie Hawkins) was El Torito. Which is basically like Chevy's, only worse. A fancy person might go to the Chart House. The thing to do after a dance was go to the all-night Denny's in your prom gear and buy cigarettes from the machine and order coffee.

How about the Barlow/Walters High School Graduation dinner at Mulboon's? That was a notable affair. Stupid, stinky, giant shrimp bowl...

I remember a Della Fontana dinner during which a sexy stripper-gram came for a man dining there. It made Kim Hill (my date to the Christmas dance) open her eyes in amazement.

I don't remember much about other high school dances except a Sadie's dance where there was a wacky picnic on the grassy median in the road at about 500 North and Crestwood. Those girls were CRAZY!

My most memorable dance experience was actually in college when I got asked to the Institute Yellow Submarine Sadie's dance (please provide your own denim shirt) by a girl I worked with. We had Subway in her parents' posh, all-white dining room which she soiled with Shasta Black Cherry soda when she attempted to open the bottle. It was a great night.

Um, nowhere. Was never invited to a dance. I was a sad girl.

The east side SLC kids seemed to like Five Alls on Foothill Drive.
(although I didn't like it)

I went to dinner at Le Fleur De Lys for Sr. Prom (It was by Bennihana)
I also went a couple of times to the 49th Samurai (I think that is what it was called) in Trolley Square.

I'm sure none of you remember the places I went:

~Victoria Station in Arrow Press Square.
~Leatherby's in Trolley Square
~Royces at the mouth of Big/Little Cottonwood Canyon
~Five All's, like Todd said
~The Roof at the Hotel Utah
~The top of the University Club building...I can't remember the name
~Ruth's diner

...and some geek took me to The Red Flame in Bountiful - hated it!

Um, Greg, why don't you tell a few more stories, please.

Slcup, I went to a dance at Hunter High School in 1992. I remember worrying about "gangs."

Todd, I never got around to trying Five Alls, but it was popular with the Davis County kids, too.

Susie, Ninos Mile High Dining was a the top of University Club. (I went there for a Pi Phi date party once.) Also, I went to Royce's a few times in college. It felt so "yuppie".

Wow. I'm drawing a complete blank on where I went to dinner. I'm thinking we went to the Olive Garden once. What I remember most are the shitty dance pictures we took. I've seriously considered burning them.

Very embarassed to admit this, but on more than one dance occasion, I was taken to The Olive Garden for dinner. True Story.
